Mrs. Scott from Meridian MS is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students technology that is appealing for them to want to watch on a day-to day basis.

My 3rd grade students are very excited and eager to learn. These students live in a Title I school district and most qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. These students are hard-working and deserve the very best.
Creating an up-to-date learning environment with a welcoming atmosphere that inspires is key to my children wanting to learn.
My classroom is a place where learning must take place and where students can feel loved and appreciated for their dedication to learning. These students are developing skills to be future leaders because I am creating an atmosphere where learning can take place. This classroom is in need of many things. Also, my goal is to turn this empty classroom into a classroom with many books, games, and interactive centers. Starting from scratch but working toward a plentiful learning environment.
The 2 items that I am requesting in this project are much needed in my classroom. The importance of the television is the fact that it is used every day. 4th graders at my school do the announcements every single morning. They give all the happenings of the day, they give the menu, and tell of upcoming important events. The principals also do shout-outs to the students whether academically or behaviors every week. If the students had a colorful television to look at, I feel they would be influenced to do great things so that they can be on television during the morning news.
Children love to be praised for the wonderful job that they do, what better way to show them that what they did, did not go unrecognized by seeing themselves on a nice colorful television.
This would motivate the students to do whatever it takes to be recognized.
The television in my classroom is an old one that is black and white. The students do not enjoy looking at it and I have to constantly remind them daily to look and listen to the announcements. I would like to give the students an opportunity to look at themselves on an up to date colored television. I do not have a DVD player at all, just a VCR player that does not work.
