Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students fight just to survive every day. Their lives are not easy, but they persevere daily just to "make it to school. Their strength inspires me to give them the education they deserve.
Most of my students deal with challenges such as homelessness, gangs, hunger, and violence; now distance learning can be added to that list.
School is a happy, safe place for them, which is why I work to create the best possible learning environment for each and every child. Most of my students are not white. My students of color deserve to see themselves in their curriculum and know that they belong. My kids deserve the best, and that is what I will give them.
Even when faced with these challenges, such as distance learning, my students are the most amazing, hopeful, hardworking individuals that I have ever met. They motivate me every day to be the best teacher I can be so that I can help them to be the best people possible, which I hope will send the ripple effect out into the world.
My Project
This project includes gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers, a website where teachers create and sell resources for other teacher to use with their own students. It is incredibly time consuming to create digital learning assignments and games. The technology takes so much time and concentration that there is not much left to put into making the resource meaningful and engaging. With these gift cards I will be able to purchase math and reading resources for my student to use daily.
With your generosity, I will be able to purchase materials to help my striving mathematicians and readers as well as materials to extend and challenge those who are ready.
This project will benefit each and every one of my students while we are learning in this distant learning format.
