My students need a read and relax book station, write and wipe book center and all about letters pocket chart to embrace their reading and writing skills comfortably.
How would you feel if you experienced physical and academic limitations and had no interactive materials to learn your letters or a comfortable seat to sit? These are just some of the challenges faced by my 3-5 year old preschool students.
My students are being introduced to the school environment for the first time.
They all come from families with multiple children in a low income community. Due to this, most of their opportunities to learn are emphasized and truly put into practice in the classroom.
My Project
The "All About Letters" pocket chart will be used daily to practice writing the letter of the week as well as learning what objects they can connect to their daily life that begin with that specific number. The "Read and Relax" station will allow the children to sit comfortably while reading and looking at picture books either by themselves or with a peer, without fidgeting on the ground or not being able to get up independently. Lastly, the magnetic white board and big book storage will allow me to present books to the students in a large group so they can comfortably see the pictures and allow for myself and the students to interact with the pages and story while not having to worry about holding the book up.
The donations to this project will improve my classroom by providing my students with opportunities to be independent and academically successful; additionally, interact with the teacher and class as a whole during our reading time.
