I teach technology, on a cart, to Kindergarten through 4th graders at an inner city school. The school district is located in the heart of Camden in an underprivileged area. These students live in an area that has a very high poverty rate. For many students, they receive free or reduced rate lunches. These students face many challenges both in school and at home. Yet, despite these many difficulties they face, they come to school eager to learn. I have a fabulous group of hard-working, grateful students!
My Project
I teach in an urban school. My Computer Science Class students are learning a variety of computer skills, including how to write code. Each student in my class has a dedicated laptop that they use. Our school Chromebooks are out of warranty and, as with wear and tear, the mousepad is losing power. Having this mouse, they will be able to complete their work efficiently and on time. With the mouse, they will be able to copy, paste, resize images, as well as efficiently create programs. These mice would decrease their creation time and have completed work done in a timely manner.
In addition to that, I teach Kindergarten and Pre-K students.
At this age, their fine motor skills are not yet up to par. Using the touchpad is very challenging for my younger students. However, using this mice will assist them in developing their much needed fine motor skills. This will also help them complete their work much easier than using the touch pad. Students get frustrated very easily when their technology is not working. These mice will help my older students complete their work more easily and in a timely fashion. These mice will help my younger students develop their fine motor skills while letting them complete their work without more unnecessary frustration.
