Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My class is the fourth grade gifted class. Within the confines of the curriculum, there is a very strong emphasis on writing. In order to help my students become stronger writers, they need dictionaries and thesauruses to better enable their writing abilities. My class is a self-contained one in which I teach all subjects. P.S. 100 is a public school, in which 80% of the students are eligible for free lunch. This coming school year I have a total of thirty students. The materials that I would need to help my students are dictionaries and thesauruses. Ideally, a class set of each would help to strengthen the writing that takes place in my class. As a teacher, I want to guide my students into becoming the best writers they can be. If my students learn to write well at this level, it will help to strengthen their abilities, and they will continually build upon this skill as they go forward in the upper grades.
