My students need fraction tiles to help them with hands-on learning. They need Building Fractions Activity Center, Fractions Equivalency Puzzles and grab and match fraction cards.
My students sit in a classroom that is culturally balanced. My students come from various countries and speak various languages at home. The students in my class come from families that are struggling financially. The students attend a Title I school where funds are limited to purchase things that will enhance their learning outside of a textbook.
The students in my class are hands-on learners, and learn better without a pencil in their hands.
Many of my students also suffer from attention deficit disorder, in which distraction overrides their learning
My Project
Do you remember what it was like to learn fractions, even as a teacher I struggle with this concept. These items that I selected will allow students to enrich their learning of the skill.
The fraction hands on kit will allow them to demonstrate and reinforce fraction concepts with our hands-on teaching kit.
With the puzzle cards students will have the opportunity to fit together equivalency puzzles, they practice expressing fractions, in 4 different ways! The grab and match fraction cards allow students to work on their own to match fractions & visual representations, identify fractions in word & number form. Lastly the Hands on build fractions kit will give students a concrete understanding of how to build fractions—with a hands-on center that makes difficult concepts easy to grasp.
With the world we live in today, FRACTIONS are all around us, whether you are in a bakery or out on a construction site. It is of importance to learn the basics of fractions.
