Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 6th Grade students are super kids. They are respectful and eager to learn, which makes teaching them real joy. Presently, I teach students with disabilities both in person and virtually, using a hybrid model. The smiles they bring to class make them special. The majority of students are low income (100% free breakfast and lunch) as well as students who are ESL/ELL (English Second Language, English Language Learners). On top of virtual learning, these circumstances create an additional hurdle in teaching. My students show me they want to learn by attending Zoom daily, participating in chats, sharing screens, and supporting their peers. When teaching virtually, I rely on multiple platforms to engage my students and motivate them which is essential for learning. Our Chromebooks are extremely limited in processing speed, screen size, using multiple tabs, and functioning with apps like Zoom, which impedes my ability to teach effectively.
My Project
This will help student learning by engaging and motivating them to perform their best. Using improved technology, I can serve multiple students at the same time with different levels of needs and various learning styles. Since some students need more individual support, I can use more than one device to make them successful. Using improved technology, I can keep better track of their progress whether I am in school or working virtually. This updated electronic device allows me to use state of the art platforms and applications without interruption or loss of engagement.
