Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach first grade in a high-need community. My six year old students are like little sponges. We work on writing every day. My target skills for them are to include a capital letter at the beginning of each sentence and putting a period at the end.

We need supplies! Many of the students I work with come from a lower income family. We are always low on or out of basic supplies. My district is unable to help me buy the supplies I need.

I really need just the basics: paper, pencils, crayons. I have a writing center in my classroom that I change up with ideas all the time. Even the students who have struggled the most are showing improvement in their writing. I want to keep their motivation going!

My goal is for my students to succeed and improve. You can help me achieve this goal! I am very positive and focused as a teacher. I simply need help buying supplies!
