Being a Special Education teacher is my passion in life, and my students make it such a joy to teach them everyday. All my students are kind and hard workers, that have a willingness to learn! Many of my students struggle with reading, writing, math, and social/emotional issues, but it makes it so much more worth it when they succeed. Our school is a small one in Kentucky, which makes it special because we have such amazing support from our community and families. Being small at times we are limited on resources, but I always try to find ways to do what is best for them and their education.
Flexible seating has been proven to greatly improve student learning in many ways. One way is that it gives students control over their learning environment by allowing them different choices of seating. Flexible seating allows for better collaboration with students, making it easier to work together in a group then traditional desks. Children also need to move, when they cant they can become easily distracted and not engaged in learning. Flexible seating will allow students more ability to move in ways to suit their needs. It will also provide comfort, and comfortable students are more calm, focused, and productive. Lastly it provides stimulation that can help students focus and process information better. All of these are ways to greatly improve my students learning, especially my students who have special needs.
