This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are beautiful, spirited children. Over 90% of the students at my school eat free and reduced price lunches. These young, bright minds want to expand their knowledge and are not afraid to try new things. They are always willing to go far and beyond the requirements!
My students are eager to learn and work hard to meet their speech objectives and goals.
They are self-motivated and are great at self-reflecting in order to continue to improve themselves. Through all of their disabilities, they never give up. They are full of love and hope!
My Project
The use of technology in the classrooms is not only effective but also a daily requirement. Unfortunately, my speech room lacks in that department. It only contains one teacher desktop computer.
My students not only love electronics, but the benefits are mind blowing!
This project aims to increase therapy sessions for all the students I impact. How will it do that, you may ask? There are various computer and Android programs that I will utilize on our new Galaxy tablet that will assist students with their articulation, voice, fluency, and language skills.
Having the handheld devices will give my students more opportunities to not only learn from me, but also receive additional sessions through these modern self-paced/self-monitoring programs. These apps and games will make speech therapy fun while focusing on the specific needs of my individual students. It's like getting a double dose of speech each and every session. This Galaxy tablet will also assist with achieving my district and school's requirements for fail technology in the classroom.
My ultimate goal is for my students to not only become better students and learners but to also be more prepared and ready for the technological era we are moving into. Children of today's world are motivated by electronic devices and tablets, and this will be an effective tool for increasing learning and growth for all it impacts.
