Improving Reading Motivation and Collaboration With Scholastic Storyworks
Help me give my students monthly subscriptions to Scholastic Storyworks magazine to provide them with engaging and relevant reading material that covers all genres. This will provide them with many opportunities to improve collaboration and communication.
My 5th-grade students are amazing. They are full of energy and enthusiasm. Together they form an amazing classroom community and family that learn and grow together every day.
Student engagement, collaboration, and motivation are essential to learning in our classroom.
Our 5th grade class is an inclusion classroom with students at various levels and abilities. The students learn in so many different ways. They need engaging, collaborative, and hands-on activities to improve their motivation and meet their independent academic needs. With student engagement and motivation, the students will learn and grow during their time in our classroom.
My Project
Storyworks is an exciting magazine that incorporates various genres in each monthly issue that build on essential English Language Arts skills. This subscription will provide my students with interesting and relevant reading material to incorporate into our classroom to meet the needs of ALL of the students.
My students need exciting and relevant reading material on their level that incorporates current events and various genres into each monthly issue to meet their diverse needs.
Every issue features compelling and complex texts in a wide range of genres, from narrative nonfiction to fiction to drama. Rigorous activities and online resources (like videos and alternate reading levels) support every text to build the skills your students need most! Utilizing these magazines, along with my current reading curriculum, will benefit my students in so many ways. They will have access to their own magazines each month which I hope will foster their love of reading.
