Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, ambitious, and have a deep love for nature. They range from 6th to 8th grade, and every single one of them has started to develop a love for learning. Despite many of the challenge they fact in and outside of the classroom, they push through and show up day after day ready to learn.
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning, although the method and environment in which they learn best greatly differ.
This next year I would love to incorporate more of a variety of learning strategies, teamwork, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful.
My Project
Three years ago my middle school students started a school garden that has started to thrive. They are now looking to cook with the food they are growing, the two cook books will help them find create ways to use the fruits and vegetables and open their eyes to new ways to eat.
Middle school scholars would like to help educate k-2 about nature and the world around them while helping to improve literacy.
These books will provide a great way to do that and build a strong community at our school by allowing old scholars to teach and build the confidence of our younger scholars.
