My students need alphabet letters, alphabet stamps, write and wipe boards, sight word games, listening center activities, word building activities, and puzzles for our literacy center.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students have the opportunity to work in Literacy Centers daily. However, developing great centers requires preparation and materials. Many of the materials I have in my centers are old, outdated, and missing pieces.
Every day I look forward to seeing my 21 friendly, bright, and happy students enter my classroom eager to learn.
Our school is located in the southeast corridor of East Atlanta. We currently serve students in grades prekindergarten through fifth. We are a Title I school.
My Project
My students need alphabet letters, alphabet stamps, write and wipe boards, sight word games, listening center activities, word building activities, and puzzles for our literacy center. Learning centers help me meet the needs and skill levels of all of my students. They enable me to work with individual or small groups of children on specific skills while the rest of the class is actively learning. Students will have an opportunity to visit three to five centers each week to improve and review skills that we are working on. In literacy centers, students can use magnetic letters to practice matching letters, identifying sounds, and building words. My students enjoy hearing stories read aloud to them. They can complete activities in the literacy center after listening to a story such as drawing and writing about their favorite part of the story. Students will learn how to work independently at their level.
