My students need hands-on experiences! They love working with math manipulatives, moving around the classroom, and creating things. They enjoy working in small groups, helping each other master skills!
My third-grade classroom is an amazing mix of cultural and economic background. We focus daily on acceptance, kindness, and honesty, and if there is one thing I can say about my students; they have adopted these attributes and more! Having three EXTREMELY academically low students my first year teaching has been an amazing learning curve for me, however watching my other students jump in as mentors to these students has been an amazing education on how it doesn't matter the age of the student: kids these days are wonderful leaders and want to help each other when given the chance to do so!
A number of my students began the school year with little to no supplies, this includes even the minimal items such as pencils, scissors, and notebooks.
Their peers were more than happy (and still are) to share their belongings, which is a true testament to how much they want to see each other succeed. Seeing my students feel accepted, loved, and at home in my classroom is what keeps this job special.
My Project
My students love using hands-on manipulatives, teaching each other, learning from each other, and helping each other improve - which is often done while working in small groups with manipulatives. From using the manipulatives to the use of the easel to the creating with Marble Works, working through seemingly difficult problems will help my students become more understanding of each other's strengths and weaknesses.
With your kind donation, my students will be able to expand their skills, using various manipulatives and teaching resources to help each other learn and grow not only in math but in their social abilities as well.
Their hands-on experiences will help them to have a greater understanding of various math and learning/working-as-a-team skills.
Thank you for your kind contribution to helping my students have a greater 3rd-grade learning experience.
