Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember what it was like learning to write your name? Imagine trying to learn the same task with physical and intellectual disabilities! My students need extra help with fine motor and handwriting skills to help promote success in the classroom!
My students are hardworking and try their best every day to be like the students they see in the general education classrooms.
Most of them come from low-income households and have limited exposure to skills such as handwriting, tying shoes, buttoning buttons, and other daily task skills. My students have physical and intellectual disabilities and need extra help with skills, that they need throughout the school day to participate in the classroom and on the playground.
My Project
I am requesting fine motor tools, toys, and activities to help my students to develop the dexterity, strength, and coordination they need to be able to write their names, tie their shoes, and zip their coats. Some of the students I work with need adults to complete all of these activities during the day but work very hard to become more independent.
My students strive every day to be as independent as possible but they all need a little extra help.
With your donation, my students will better learn how to do the tasks that we take for granted every day and will have the chance to feel more independent in their classroom!
