Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At our school, students are not only racially, socioeconomically, and culturally diverse, but are also educationally diverse, presenting with different learning styles and educational needs. I believe learning should be equitable and enjoyable for all.
As a school-based speech-language pathologist, it is my ultimate goal to provide all students with the support and resources they need to be successful learners and communicators.
The students are strong, smart, charismatic, and deserving of the best possible education. It is a privilege to advocate for these children every day and help them fight to overcome personal, societal, and educational obstacles. Your generous donations will be used to help me support my students as they grow to meet their goals.
My Project
As a school-based speech-language pathologist, all of my students present with various types of speech and language impairments and learning disabilities, which can impact their ability to express themselves and meet their academic targets. These tools are designed to support my students in improving their expressive and receptive language skills through storytelling. Specifically, when implemented effectively, these programs will support students as they learn to identify story grammar elements (i.e. the important parts of a story) and produce organized narratives in a purposeful sequence, across both oral and written contexts.
