Improve Student Academic and Athletic Outcomes by Optimizing Medical Care
Help me give my students the most optimal chance for injury recovery by providing a Theragun G3 massager and a muscle stimulator which is necessary to help relieve the sore muscles and relax aches/pains to reduce future injuries.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My student-athletes work very hard to excel in the classroom and on the practice field. They are the most caring, compassionate, and appreciative students I have ever worked with. Every time I step on campus, I am greeted by several of these wonderful students. I have many graduated alumni who also come to see me on a daily basis. Many of these students are not given the opportunity to have access to optimal healthcare. Therefore, as their athletic trainer, I am working hard to be able to optimize the healthcare and treatments done at the school.
My Project
Injury recovery is of vital importance to student-athletes both on the field and in the classroom. In certain schools, we are unable to promote injury recovery due to lack of materials and supplies. It is my goal to reach beyond the normal ice and referrals that a high school athletic trainer relies upon. Through these items requested, I will be able to improve student-athlete classroom attendance by reducing the amount of doctor and physical therapy visits. Even when an injured athlete is in class, they are often distracted by their pain and have to leave early to make it to another classroom due to assisted devices. With the ankle weights, electrical stimulation units, back stretcher, and Theragun, I will shorten the recovery time in these student-athletes. Strengthening, stretching, and pain management are all key factors in the rehabilitation process. With your help, I will be able to promote success both in the classroom and on the field/court. These items will be utilized to benefit all sports at my school.
