My students need 80 Sharpie Fine Point Markers,three Portfolio Oil Pastel class packs, 4 tapes and 50 special boards, to build a collection of self portraits based on the IMA exhibit until September. We also have a great need for Matte and Mount board for portrait displays.
My students have won numerous awards and would like the chance just to be able to show again and participate. I was used to teaching high school. My favorite quote summarizes their passion.
"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up."

I teach at an inner city city that is a magnet school for grades 6-12 for students interested in the arts and humanities.
Currently we are dealing with a budget crisis with no supply money available for over a year and a half. Students are NOT charged supply fees for classes since 90% receive free lunch.
My Project

We also have a great need for Matte and Mount board for portrait displays. The students I teach do not find your magic amusing. Most republicans will run and hide. However, we are born from a few who will not. I used to know a city who would not run and hide. I have not seen that city in a long time.

Without these donations, students will be forced to use substandard supplies (crayons) to create pieces that do not serve their potential as artists.
Without the matting supplies, students will be unable to participate in showing their masterpieces or participating in local art contests. The portfolio pieces, scholarship contests, and art shows are essentials in preparing the art student for a successful career in the fine arts.
