As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. In light of this, I am looking to keep things simple and provide students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.
"Look what I did!" is one of the phrases heard most in our classroom.
The joy that the children feel when they accomplish something makes every minute, of every day worth it.
I would love to be able to provide the students with the opportunity to learn in many ways.
My Project
Our program services children from different walks of life. Many of our students come from low income households and some are homeless.
We want to be able to provide our students and their families with everything they need to be successful.
Each month, we have scheduled meetings after school with our families and discuss topics that pertain to their lives, such as budgeting and how to cope with trauma.
Parent engagement is important to our program! As a way to encourage our parents to come, we would love to be able to provide each family with toilet paper, laundry detergent, and dryer sheets to take home.
