Students at my school are eager to learn, and greatly benefit from inquiry-based learning. That is where coding, computer science, STEM, and <akerspace activities come into play. I am the Instructional Technology Resource Teacher for our City Public Schools. I have the the pleasure of working with a diverse group of Urban students in grades 3-5 who are truly passionate about learning, making and creating.
We meet for "Maker Mondays" to participate in highly engaging activities to promote computational thinking as well as necessary 21st century skills.
Many students do not have access to not have access to this equipment to practice and prepare for future job-related endeavors, including computer programming. Every Monday we meet these students come prepared to learn and engage in skills for future careers do not yet exist in a world of technology that is ever changing.
We are requesting two iPads and cases. Having these iPads will greatly benefit students! This will give them a chance to implement the the "T" in STEM and facilitate the technological component of Makerspace. In utilizing the the iPads students will have access to various apps, including coding apps that will aid in developing their 21st century skills.
The development of these 21st century skills are necessary for our young minds - they are developing skills for careers that may not yet exist.
These iPads will truly foster learning beyond the classroom walls. With these iPads I will be granting access and opportunities for students that they would not otherwise have. The mobility and flexibility of the iPads will help my students foster their innovative, entrepreneurial spirit which will enhance their computation thinking- which will ultimately help them to become better students in all content areas.
