In today’s world, many students have access to a variety of digital items, i.e. computers, cell phones, iPods, x-boxes, etc. Digital information has become second hand to most students. They don’t need to read the directions or take a class to use it. They take it and run with it.
The students that don’t have this access need it more than ever!
All of these students are our future. They yearn for new technology and once they get it, they fly with it. Imagine the possibilities…technology is the future. Colleges, universities, and even government agencies have started incorporating technology like iPhones and Kindles on a daily basis. Students need to get their hands on this emerging technology, in order to be prepared. The iPad will not only excite the students, but it will also become a powerful tool in their hands.
Imagine the possibilities…
Limitless possibilities…
My Project
Students can dive into books, experience famous works of art, work on their handwriting, read the Constitution, have a word pronounced for them, discuss current events out of the newspaper, create graphs and spreadsheets, participate in a class blog, listen to a podcast on a topic of study, research, type a paper, work on phonics, learn about music, take a visual trip around the world, check the weather, explore the periodic table of elements, walk among the stars, record written and auditory notes, and create powerful presentations. These are just a few examples of what can be done with an iPad in the classroom.
“When something exceeds your ability to understand how it works…it becomes magical,” Jony Ive.
I think this comment encompasses what can happen when we put limitless possibilities into the hands of our students.
Please help me make learning magical by putting an iPad into the hands of my students…our future.
