My Students

Funny, Smart, Inquisitive, Curious, Bubbly...just flat out Amazing. These are just a few of the wonderful characteristics that make up my classroom of 18 students.

My students are eager to learn, explore and experience life on a daily basis but often struggle due to uncontroable circumstances.

I teach in the largest elementary school within our school district which is small compared to other school districts. My students come from a variety of different economic backgrounds and cultures. Many students within my classroom receive free/reduced-price lunch and food bags for the weekend.

My Project

Our class needs book sets to keep everyone engaged while reading. Throughout the year, our class completes novel studies during our reading block and I feel that all students need to hold and feel books while reading. During April, we take part in a large unit about "The Titanic"...with twenty copies of the book "I survived the sinking of the Titanic" my students will be able to fully experience the history of The Titanic. Also, we do a unit on "Twisters" while studying weather and a class set of non-fiction books will help students to understand the facts.

Reading opens the eyes to a world beyond the norm.

Reading helps students encompass abilities they may not have known before. Every student deserves the ability to read, be read to and to be read with.
