This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher I like to provide my students with ample opportunities to learn. At this stage, kinder, is a special time to teach kids how to socialize and learn in a environment that promotes flexibility.

I currently teach in a dual immersion kindergarten class and it greatly benefits students when they have different manipulative for interactive play time.

A few years ago I was fortunate to get a project funded for a playhouse, its furniture and dolls. Unfortunately, the wear and tear has claimed our furniture pieces and dolls.

My Project

Students in a dual immersion program need lots of manipulatives and realia to learn with. Over the years, my students have used the playhouse and its dolls as a tool to apply social skills learned in the classroom. Through play, they show me how family members interact with each other to solve issues. Many times I pose a problem in the household and students role play its different solutions. In addition, my playhouse is a go to item when I need to teach and model kids that are having difficulty with social skills in the classroom. Sometimes, I used the playhouse to help students to talk about something they are having a hard time expressing. My students need a set of new playhouse furniture and dolls.
