I teach kindergarten in a school with 650 population and 69% free and reduced lunches. I teach a social studies and literacy unit on maps, things you would find in a community, and how map scales are smaller than life. I would like to have a center in home living so my students could experience a small community with streets. Imaginative play is an important part of growth and development for young children. This rug is also large enough to encourage coooperative play. I would like to provide small traffic signs in which the children could recogonize the words like stop, do not enter, and handicap parking. The materials I would need to have purchased is a street rug, vehicle fun set and mini 4' signs. These materials would provide many hours of enjoyment for my students. They would be used in small center groups for literacy and social studies units on maps and community. Thank you so much for considering funding this proposal.
