Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are creative, thoughtful and love to be active. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Many students in my classroom have difficulty completing assignments at home because of lack of supplies or resources.
I am truly lucky to be given the opportunity to work with this group of children and to help them grow.
I want to help my children take their reading to the next level which will impact them across the board. Most of my students do not have access to reading books at home or the funds to purchase any.
My Project
My classroom library is a place that my students really enjoy-I read on the carpet to them, they complete work there, and they read independently! Every student book that is placed in my library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-and their interests. I not only want my students to have access to books in my classroom and at home, but I want them to learn to ENJOY reading. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level.
They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading.
