Help me give my students Blue Blocks from Imagination Playground. Blocks for many, Blocks for one, we need blocks for everyone!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I have a class of 18 students who are 3, 4 and 5 year old children. My students come from different backgrounds and are mixed regular education and special education. I also have children with multiple languages. My students live in a high poverty area. Our school was opened almost 5 years ago to educate all 4 year olds in our district. My goal is to start them young at becoming productive members of society and working towards breaking the chains of generational poverty.
My students are sponges that are eager to learn.
They soak up every word I read and love to do hands-on activities. They love math and working with objects to count. They are active readers and writers. They love art and collage as well as creating something that goes along with a book or author study. These little minds are open to being molded they just need to be given the opportunity and the tools to do it. They love creating ideas and mapping out the way to achieve it. Hands-on is the way we learn!
These Blocks from Imagination Playground allow the students to create their own playground from their imagination.
Living in the Midwest there are many times when students do not get to go outside and play.
These blue blocks have endless possibilities and allow the children to use their own creative imaginations to create a different playground every time they choose.
These blocks give the students the STEAM activities that they crave. These blocks will allow the students to use their engineering creativity to trial and error while building their designs. The students will engage their social and cognitive abilities while working together. They will exercise problem solving skills and complex thinking.
Playing with blocks involves many math and science skills that can have a real impact in the classroom, including classification, size relationships, shapes, counting, height, width, area, fractions, and ordinal and cardinal numbers. Imaginational Playground blocks can also help students develop spatial relationships, including the concepts of interior and exterior, open and closed, and near and far. Play scenarios are endless with these amazing blocks.
The smaller blue block set will allow one to two students to create on a smaller level using the same STEAM skills and their imaginations to create whatever they dream.
