Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have 28 kindergarten students who are so full of life. They come in every day so eager to learn. They are the most deserving students. They are incredibly sweet and are always think of others. I want to give something back to them that will not only help them grow academically, but socially as well. The school I work at is a high-poverty rate. Many of my students do not have items at home that will allow them discover and use their imagination. They do not have opportunities to work together outside of school. How great would it be if my students can learn and grow together.
My Project
My kinder students will use the items during our playtime. I am requesting items such as building materials, a doctor's kit and even play kitchen items. These will allow the students to discover and use their imagination. Having these items will also allow my students more opportunities to interact with one another while practicing their language skills. While students are having playtime, they will acquire skills such as sharing, working together, problem solving, math and language skills and so many other skills that they will use every single day inside and outside of school. It's important that students are given chances to work with one another and discover the world on through interactive play. It's so amazing to see my students open up in ways I never thought possible. It's all thanks to playtime being brought back into the classroom.
