My students need 10 professional cutting tools to create books in the shapes of boys/girls/bus/backback/pennants for display on Back To School Day!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students need quick & fun ways to engage in reading & writing. Many students can succeed on state tests when they aggressively read & practice writing skills. These skills can be fun to learn, with cool adult tools like people shaped cutting dies. Kids can't miss with tools like this!
We know forcing kids to read & write doesn't work.
Instead, let's let kids do what they do best, use technology! Our kids love technology and excel when they use different tools to explore learning. In English class, students will use an AccuCut die cutting machine and your donation of school images to create a digital reading/writing portfolio. Using die cutting tools, kids will be able to enhance their work with professional images. All kids want to make good grades, especially boys. With easy to use professional dies, digital cameras and Internet access, every student can earn an A.
Kids will read different Graphic Novels based on classic literature to focus on state standards. Students will decide which chapters they want to create digital animations for. Students will create a script, a storyboard using 3D backgrounds, settings & story elements. Kids will work together to cut shapes, decorate sets, capture images on digital camera, download from the web other images for digital portfolio. Finally, students will create & post grades using a student-made rubric to judge each digital portfolio. Then other classes will be allowed to view student work and assign a grade digitally.
Reluctant readers & writers need all the support they can get.
With cool, professional-looking die cutting school shapes, digital camera access and the web, kids can learn the joy of reading and writing. I need your help to inspire our kids to engage in aggressive reading & writing! Every kid is eager to learn, let's give children the opportunity to have fun with reading & writing. Our kids are worth the effort!
