My Students
I have so many students that are so in love with the places they can go by reading books and have read most all of the books we have to offer in our library. It is my goal to help continue to build their reading skills by trying to get new books to take them to new places.
The students here at our school are very well mannered, caring young people. We are a high poverty school of about 150 students. Our library does not have much of a budget for library books, but we so desperately need new ones. We live quite a long distance from any type of fun for the students so reading is a great love for some of them.
My Project
The students in our school are each so completely their own person. Some like the same type of books but some like books that are not the norm. These junior high and high school students are required to read and test on 3 books every six weeks. Some of the students are running out of books to read at this point and most of them do not have a chance to go to the public library in the town near where we are located. Having more books would mean more excitement about the reading they are required to complete.
This project will make a huge difference in a lot of these student's school year because most of them do not have access to the Internet to read more books or a way to get to the public library in the town near where we are located.
