Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
One of my favorite quotes is as followed: "All-I-have-learned-I-learned-from-books" by Abraham Lincoln. I want to instill the love for books onto my students.
My students are your typical four year old children.
They are curious, funny, loving, and energetic risk takers. The language skill of a four year old expands rapidly at this age. My students love to pretend they are reading. Seeing them do this has giving me the idea of setting up a listening station.
My Project
The listening station will help them expand their vocabulary, use their imagination, learn how to hold a book, turn the pages of a book, and enjoy a story. I will first use the listening station to listen to stories in order to allowed the children to use their imagination. Once they know how to use the cassette player, I will allow them to get a book, and I will assist them in learning how to read the book while the book is being read to them.
This project is going to make a difference in my students’ lives.
My students will be developing good reading habits. The student’s knowledge on various subjects will increase. The listening station will stimulate the children’s imagination, accelerate their emotional development, and improve their attention span. Overall the children will be successful in developing excellent reading skills. My students need a Classroom CD/Cassette Player, a mobile listening center, and Wikki Stix.
