My Students

I have a class of 21 eager and awesome kindergarten students. They love coming to school and are excited to do the many activities that are planned for each day! Many of them have not attended Pre-K and are experiencing school for the first time. These students are having to catch up with those who were in the Pre-K program.

A large percentage come from low income families.

Our school also has a significant population of English language learners. They live in a small rural community. Academic resources are limited in our small community.

My Project

We have many rainy days where the students must stay in the classroom for recess. These days are so much better when students have a variety of interesting, educational toys to play with. Building toys are some of the best and most educational toys for children. The items I found which are block animals, building tubes, and wooden buildings for block play, are things we currently don't have in our classroom. My students are excited when they get to play inside because they love playing with blocks and other building toys. However, we don’t have enough of some of these items for everyone.
