My students need ideas for projects. Images and posters give them ideas to formulate their own concepts, ideas, and then hopefully create their own independent project. These images hopefully will help them incorporate famous psychology images.
I am teaching AP in Rockford, Illinois. Our city and district is challenged with high poverty/crime. Resources are very limited but the students are excited to explore the world of high school Psychology, to learn about the brain, and to expand their capacity for critical thinking. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning. These students have grown to love learning and exploring the topics the Psychology provides.
The Unit that covers the brain is often the most challenging part of our curriculum.
Here is where we are looking for resources to help our understanding of this marvelous organ.
My Project
By making the environment all about psychology I think we are able to transport students to a different world. Images, and posters can help create an environment that stays with the student all year, hopefully creating some familiarity between the student and the images. The posters I picked out will do just that. The students need to recognize these famous Psychologists, looking at them in many different ways. In my class, we do many projects, we hang them, and actually utilize resources that hang in my room. One of the projects is "famous homies" and a knock on Facebook. They love it. It all starts with these posters and images.
