Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing! I have students that come from foster care, homeless situations, or broken homes. They persevere with grit and passion. My class is made up of some of the students I had four years ago when they were in second grade. I have watched them grow and mature over the years. I want to give them a classroom that supports all of their needs and will foster their learning. I want to empower them to make good choices and reach their utmost potential.
We are facing a year of uncertainties.
For my students, that might mean sharing screen time with siblings. It might mean dividing their time between school work and helping out the family. And for some, it means completing their work with very little support from a parent or guardian. As their teacher, I want to support them in any way I can.
My Project
My class is distance learning all year. This limits my ability to monitor their work. When my students are in the classroom, I can walk around and watch their progress on assignments as they complete them. This allows me to see if they need help or to give them a high-five if they are on track.
If each of my students had an IPEVO mirror-cam, I could see their work in real time!
I would have the ability to see how they are solving problems, give them support as they write essays, and guide them to success.
These mirrors simply latch onto their laptop and reflect their work as they complete it. Instead of asking them to hold their work up to the camera or asking them to work in computer apps that can be clunky and difficult to use, students will be able to use pencil to paper as they would in a traditional classroom giving them the freedom to express themselves more comfortably.
