This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
The Pride of Capitol Hil!. My kids are resilient, brave, character building, motivators who inspire me every day to be a better person. They are creative, passionate, and determined visionaries in a world that sometimes seems to be falling to pieces. They are the future of this district, this nation, and this world who, given the opportunity, can lead us toward a better tomorrow. I love these kids with all of my heart and am honored that they call me Ms. Stevenson.
My Project
I serve in a Title I school in the Northeast area of DC. A high percentages of the students come from low-income families and non-nuclear home environments. I want to remove one of the many stressors our kids face by making sure I have everything they will need to be successful while in my classroom. These items may seem simple, but they make a huge impact on student performance. The binders, pencils, paper, dry erase boards, as well as the other supplies will ensure that all my student have what they will need to feel prepared and successful for class.
