Our students become more energetic, engaged, and enthusiastic towards learning when participating in activities and experiences where they have choice and independence. As an arts integration school and nearly 65% of our students coming from low income situations, we are always looking for ways to provide equal opportunities for accessing information, collaborating, and sharing learning. Technology provides one of those access points. At G. Elementary, we've been fortunate to receive Chromebooks for our students to use. However, we don't have enough headphones to make these tools fully accessible for all of our students to hear and listen when working using this technology tool.
My Project
Help me please! I want to hear, so that I can learn. Utilizing technology tools for increased students achievement is most helpful when the learning is accessible and not distracting. Headphones will allow my students to hear what they should for individualized reading or math lessons, for learning from their peer projects that have been posted online, or for gathering data from experts in videos or simulations. Headphones will also keep my students learning in small group with me or another adult, in a quiet reading activity, or in a buddy activity without the distraction from other students' technology devices in the room.
