This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach Pre-K and Kindergarten students in a unique public Montessori school which recently opened. I marvel at my students' desire for knowledge, they devour learning like it’s cupcakes! They are in the beginning stages of reading and writing. Writing seems to be a calming, creative process for them. In fact, they would write uninterrupted for hours if allowed to.
As you can imagine our start-up school has a lot of needs.
My students and I appreciate any help you extend to our classroom and we thank you in advance.
My Project
Every teacher's dream is to have a classroom that is not only organized but inviting. I am currently teaching in a newly opened public Montessori school and there are many needs, from shelving to learning materials.
It has been a huge challenge to decide what things to purchase from my own pocket (to accentuate student learning) and which to let go.
I am reaching out to see if my classroom can be gifted with beautiful shelving for organization and hands-on learning. My students will benefit by having easy access to learning materials housed neatly in the storage.
While the main goal for school is educating, I think about how efficient the educational process can become when teachers and students have what they need. This kind of shelving can make that happen for my classroom. A classroom that is organized and equipped with materials students can conveniently access puts students one step closer to success.
