Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Paul Irvine once said that, “Without mistakes, there are no lessons. Without lessons, there is no progress and without progress, there is no achievement."
My students have all been identified as highly gifted.
They have special needs, and require a differentiated instructional program to provide them with a challenging and rigorous academic setting. My students are inquisitive and thoughtful. They love to learn! It is up to me to provide a safe and fun environment, to help stimulate their minds, and encourage their exploration of new concepts without the pressure of being right or wrong.
My Project
Using these white boards, dry erase markers, and felt erasers, especially during lessons, affords my students the opportunity to try new ways of solving a problem, without the pressure of being right or graded. If a mistake is made it is wiped clean. No worries.
Math is a perfect subject for my students to use their white boards. The students can try to problem solve equations during the lesson using algorithms or models drawn on their whiteboards. This helps me to quickly assess if they understand the lesson and how to properly solve the problems. At the end of each lesson is a quick check section, which we like to solve together. This would be a perfect time to use these boards for practice.
Your donation will help me to provide my students with the tools they need to be more successful in practicing and understanding their math and doing their best on exams.
