Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 2nd Grade Sheltered English Immersion (a program for English Language Learners) in a low-income urban neighborhood.
As the first year of teaching wears on, I've realized that some students finish much more quickly than others. I currently have very little to offer for them to do. We have very few educational games, little arts and crafts materials, and still very few places to store these things. We also are trying to embark on a social studies curriculum filled with worldly understanding, but have few resources to aid that journey.
We would love to have some educational games, construction paper, social studies lesson enhancement, and storage containers for these items. These items will make productive use of down time in the classroom, create more lively works to enhance learning, increase the knowledge of the world among second graders, and give us a place to keep everything.
With your kind donations, my students will be able to maximize the amount of learning done in a 6 hour work day. Instead of just drawing a picture or writing a story when they finish their work, they will be able to enjoy fun games while also learning basic reading and math skills. With the other materials, we will be able to increase the excitement in our social studies program and other classroom activities. I thank you in advance for anyway that you may be able to help my students!
