This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Sometimes, classrooms aren't just for one grade, or one subject. Sometimes, you have multi-grades within one room and multiple subjects being taught at once. When such a case is the situation in your classroom of diverse learners, sometimes you need the help of technology.

My students are 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematicians and scientists.

They may have special and diverse learning needs, but they are always excited to be in school and are ready to learn. They are also extremely resilient. Residing in the south side of Chicago, it is hard to believe some of the things they have seen. I want to be able to provide the best education I can for them, and instill within them the desire to better themselves, enroll in an amazing high school, attend college, and achieve all of their dreams.

My Project

My students would utilize these iPads as teaching tools. They would be able to receive lessons assignments through previously recorded lessons. They would also be able to use the technology to access various math apps. Since my students are diverse learners, these iPads would appeal to their visual learning preferences.

The funding of this project would make such a difference in our room!

At the current moment, I am teaching math to one grade while another grade is learning science in another part of my room. A set of two iPads would benefit my students immensely! With iPads, I would be able to videotape myself conducting science experiments--I would be able to explain the steps, without having to physically be in front of them. With iPads, I would also be able to demonstrate various mathematical operations.
