My students need an iPad that comes with a sturdy case that they can use to listen to reading, and practice and enhance individual skills associated with our curriculum. They also need an Apple TV.
Do you remember what it was like the first time you listened to a story? How about participating in a learning activity using an iPad? My students need the opportunity to participate in small group instruction where they can practice skills that have been previously taught.
My first grade students are very diverse.
They are inquisitive and love to read! I have some students who are second language learners and some which will be classified as gifted and talented. I'd love to broaden their horizons and help them reach to the sky as there is just about anything they can do from a "tap" away. They strive for books and since our school will be loosing many books to our rebuild project, I want to continue to foster their love for reading!
My Project
Using the iPad, students will be able to read Kindle Fire Books, as well as iBooks. They will also be able to listen to audiobooks from an iTunes account. Using production apps, students will be able to transform their stories from their lives into an eBook that can be shared with the school.
The iPad will be the "tool" that reaches outside our fist grade classroom giving my young students the ability to collaborate and help one another learn, solve problems and create language - rich, multimedia productions, using age-appropriate apps that can be shared over the Apple TV.
My students need opportunities to consume, critique and practice word study and language skills in a small group setting.
Using an iPad station, my students will be able to listen to books, as well as read them with a partner and then use the apps available to become authors at our school.
