My kindergarten students are a very fun group. I have a class of 24 students who are eager to learn and explore the world. They love playing and learning to read. They are very energetic and open to new learning ventures. My students are always given the opportunity to be in charge of their own learning. We are growing leaders. My students are from all different socioeconomic levels and backgrounds. They love coming to class to see what exciting things they will be learning.
My Project
The iPads that I am requesting for my students are needed to run an interactive game system that I have been able to provide for my students through a previously funded DonorsChoose project. The Osmo learning system brings hands-on play and interaction into augmented reality through the use of an iPad. The iPads are set up on a stable base and connected to a reflector near the camera. The reflector has a mirror that enables the iPad to view how you are manipulating letters, numbers, shapes, codes, and more. As the children move the objects they are displayed on the iPad screen. The iPad provides instruction and hints when a child is stuck and keeps track of students learning progress through meeting various goals, or levels, in each area.
By having a dedicated iPad for each of our Osmo systems, the materials can be ready to use at any time by being ready to go.
This will enhance learning opportunities through the creative use of time that being prepared allows and will give students who are “early finishers” a different option to choose to do while I finish working with other children.
