This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students really are my superheroes. They face challenges every day, yet they still love to come to school. This is their very first exposure to "real" school and we love making it enjoyable for them. I love seeing their little faces light up whenever they learn something new.

With the increase in the rate of drop out in our school district, creating a desire to learn now is more important than ever!

I REALLY AM responsible for the future of the world! I AM teaching a future world leader. A future president. A future astronaut. Doctors who will find cures for terminal illnesses that are depleting the human race today.

My Project

My students love to build and create. The most popular center during choice time is the block area. I enjoy watching them see how tall they can build structures of wood and then watch them knock it down again to squeals of delight. Of course, they rebuild their monster "skyscrapers" immediately, only to knock them down all over again! This year, I want to introduce them to something new; a light table.

Light tables are not only illuminating, but they are inviting and engaging, while also being calming.

Children are naturally drawn to the calming natural white light of these tables.
