My students need 2 mini iPads and cases to engage them in practicing skills.

"We need technology in every classroom and in every student and teacher's hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience much of our world."--David Warlock
The poverty-stricken children of my classroom often do not have the access to this new pen and paper.
Eager for any opportunity to use technology, they would fearlessly embrace iPads in our classroom. They would quickly gain the skills that are essential for their future success.
Already incredibly disadvantaged when compared to their peers, my students have an amazing drive to out-perform and exceed expectations. I hope to enable them to do this by providing them with as many opportunities and experiences as I am able. Fun, engaging educational games practiced on the iPad would be such an opportunity for them.
If we are unable to provide students with opportunities to gain familiarity with different types of technology, we will only increase the disadvantage that low-income students find themselves.
The skills my students would gain from the use of iPads would not only improve their Reading and Math skills but, also, increase their success in the future.
