My students need an iPad for constant access to technology. There are countless academic resources that are currently inaccessible to the students in my classroom due to a lack of technology.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I will have the privilege of teaching 20 amazing second grade students next year. My school embraces a diverse population, many of my children are learning English as a second language and many students receive special education services. My students come from various backgrounds but live in a city faced with many economic challenges. All students in my classroom qualify for free lunch and breakfast.
We do our best to learn every single school day despite the global challenges that some of these students face.
The children I have met in this community are some of the most creative and passionate learners. Their desire to do well drives their engagement, excitement and questions. Each year when I ask my students what their favorite part of school is, a large number of students vote for their field trip. They have so few experiences outside of their small worlds that they look forward to their field trips starting on the first day of school.
My Project
I want students to have constant access to technology to engage in effective research. It is my hope for next year to increase engagement in science and social studies through the researchers workshop. Technology is essential to research. With an iPad, we could observe wildlife in real time by accessing live cameras at famous zoos and parks.
A classroom iPad would benefit my most advanced learners and my students who need high levels of support to access curriculum content.
With an iPad in the classroom, we can increase engagement during literacy and math centers. I can reach every learner at their level through different applications. iPads also have accessibility features for students who require speech to text, text read aloud, or enlarged text.
