Technology and learning go hand in hand! The integration of technology can aid instructional practices tremendously. Each year, I strive to have all students on or above grade level in reading and math by the end of the year. This goal can be achieved with the help of technology.
I’m an 8th year teacher looking to provide my students with more opportunities to become independent learners.
I teach a very eager group of diverse second graders. Within my class there is a wide range of learners, some students have Individualized Education Plans and other students are performing above grade level. I am hoping to enrich and motivate each student by providing interactive products for them to use each day.
My Project
In my classroom, students will have the opportunity to learn independently or with a partner while using the iPads. My eager little learners will learn and explore in a fresh, new way. I plan to use the ipads as a learning station during both reading and math rotations. The iPads will allow me to easily differentiate instruction for students as I work with small groups or individual students. There are a variety of reading apps that are geared toward beginning readers and the students love using these programs. During math we will use the iPads to help us explore math concepts such as adding, subtracting, telling time, and working through word problems.
This project will make a difference in my students' lives, because many of them do not have the privilege of using this type of technology at home. For those that have tablets, it will encourage them to download their favorite educational apps at home to continue learning.
These iPads will not only engage and interest my students, but they will also help to make the connection between technology and education.
The more students enjoy using iPads to learn, the more they will associate learning with fun, and that is how we help create lifelong learners!
