Many of my first grade students do not have the opportunity to extend their learning through technology. This year, I hope to help students utilize technology to retell stories, manipulate words, and capture their own voice using iPads.
Please help my first grade students gain access in the technology world!
By having iPads, my students will be able to interact, create, and pace their own learning.
The students I work with are amazing, determined, and eager to learn new skills. They come to school prepared to learn and try their best to achieve high expectations. Our school is located in a low income area with many students receiving free or reduced lunch. Most of my students have limited resources outside of school, so their only chance to experience enriching activities, is at school.
My Project
Having two iPads with cases would provide my students with technology and unlimited resources to encourage new reading, math, and writing skills. With iPads, my students will be able to easily manipulate letters to build words and solve math problems, record their own voices reading original writing pieces, and research numerous topics. Having this tool would maximize student-learning interests and maintain their attention and focus.
Thank you in advance for supporting my students. Dissolving the barrier that prevents technology from being in the hands of these first graders will help get the resources necessary for their success. Technology access is very important for my students because they will be mastering and accelerating the necessary skills for first grade, such as reading, computation skills, and writing. They will become technology savvy and prepared for the work place in years to come.
iPads in the hands of my first graders will help to make their daily learning more engaging, meaningful, and exciting.
By providing them iPads at an independent station, my students will gain independence and responsibility for some their own learning. As the world is becoming more and more technology driven, it is essential that our students become aware of how to navigate technology.
