Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a designated Title I school with a large percentage of children from low-income families. Many of our students are eligible for extra support to help ensure that they meet challenging state academic standards.
The first graders in our class are a lively, energetic and enthusiastic group of children with diverse backgrounds, abilities and academic needs.
They are inquisitive, capable learners who share a common love for learning and a growing enthusiasm for reading that is exciting to see.
My Project
The materials I am requesting will allow my students to enhance their learning by providing opportunities for them to practice reading and math skills via online activities and games.
The addition of an iPad to our classroom will allow my students to access high-quality, high-interest educational apps that will teach, provide practice, build and strengthen their reading, phonics, math and writing skills, in a stimulating and user-friendly way.
For example, students in my class love using a phonics-based learning program that sets individualized learning paths to develop fundamental reading skills in a structured, sequential manner. They are also learning to use a student-driven digital portfolio that empowers them to independently document what they are learning at school.
It is thrilling to consider the learning opportunities that are created when students engage with technology in intentional and meaningful ways. Your generous donation to our project will provide our students with a powerful, multifunctional tool to stimulate and advance learning in the classroom.
