My Students

My Title I school serves 100% military families. We are a very transient school with families frequently moving in and out. Many of our students have high special education needs. Our students often have one parent deployed or away, working with the military. This is my 24th year teaching students with all kinds of special education needs.

Students come to me with a wide range of skills, learning differences and abilities.

My goal is to meet each student's educational needs, while encouraging social interaction and growing friendships.

When students enter my resource room or their inclusion classroom, I believe it is important to focus on the growth and potential that each student has.

My Project

I am requesting an iPad so my students, with learning differences, can participate in math and literacy games to help improve their skills. My students will use the iPad to utilize many of the wonderful apps and websites available to improve their letter identification, letter sound identification, sight word identification, rhyming skills, counting, number identification and other basic math skills. With an iPad, my students can also be exposed to a variety of online books. Listening to stories will help my students improve their reading fluency and comprehension.

My students are inquisitive little learners that want to learn using technology

They love listening to stories online as well as playing math and literacy games. I know by having this technology readily available, I can provide fun and engaging, yet also meaningful educational experiences for my unique students.
