My Students

I love that I have the privilege of teaching 21 first graders that all have a healthy thirst for learning. While my first graders come to my class at a diverse range of ability levels, they are all still excited to become better readers and mathematicians everyday.

With this project, each child in my classroom would be able to access many math and literacy apps that fit each of their individual needs while staying engaged and excited to come to school every day.

My Project

Student-centered math and literacy stations are the majority of our day in first grade and iPads would help my students stay engaged and excited during these stations. Why iPads?

Students need 21st century technology skills — and iPads are fun, too!

Innovative use of technology not only engages students more, but it helps them gain skills they’ll need for their careers later. With over 20 students in our class and 4 VERY slow desktop computers, it is nearly impossible to get all of our students on a technology-driven station. With 5 iPads in our classroom, my students would each be able to have 30 minutes (or more!) of individual technology time! We will use them to deepen our understanding of concepts we have learned which will then allow my students to work at their own level and pace.

But iPads are costly - and that’s where I'm asking you to come in! Thank you in advanced for any donation. You will be helping to impact the education many first graders!
