One word: Vibrant!
My special needs students have hearts of gold and smiles twice as big. They attend a regular elementary school but require a little extra help in their academics, behavior, independent functioning skills and/or communication needs. To me, my job is perfect because these students keep me smiling every single day.
My Project
An iPad Mini would be extremely helpful to my classroom. As a teacher of students with special needs, I need a variety of tools and strategies to constantly keep my students engaged and learning. Their world changes all the time and I need to be prepared to help them face whatever the day brings! Not only do I face the challenges that all teachers face, my students can sometimes brings other issues to the table. An iPad Mini will help these students to learn the appropriate behavioral and social skills they need to interact with their peers as well as adults. Some of my students have Autism and require sensory stimulation and breaks, which the iPad Mini can provide. Numerous apps on the iPad will help me to track my students' IEP goals and monitor their progress every day as they continue to steadily grow and mature to reach their goals.
I truly believe that I learn more from my students than they learn from me.
I feel enormously blessed to have the ability to share some of their experiences and I pray that I can make a difference in their beautiful lives.
